The Taming of the Shrew

Kerikeri Theatre Company is thrilled to present: “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare for our 2024 Summer Shakespeare at Kainui Vineyard!

This year, we’re taking a delightful turn from the dark tragedy of “Macbeth” to the sparkling wit and humor of “The Taming of the Shrew”. Set against the backdrop of the fun and vibrant 1960s, this classic comedy comes alive with a modern twist, promising an evening full of laughter and lively energy.

After the resounding success of our previous productions, “The Taming of the Shrew” is set to be another outstanding offering from the Kerikeri Theatre Company. Staged at the beautiful Kainui Vineyard and Brewery, this open-air venue provides the perfect setting for an evening of Shakespearean fun and frolic, marking our fifth consecutive year at this wonderful location.

General Admission tickets are available at just $37 per adult or $25 per student (18 and under). Want to enhance your experience? Our limited 4-seater gazebos are back, offering a cozy spot for your group – but hurry, they won’t last long!

Immerse yourself in a 60s-themed Shakespearean evening with a smaller, dynamic cast, bringing fresh vibrancy to this timeless story.

What kind of seating do you provide?

Seating is on the lawn at Kainui Road Vineyard. It is recommended that you bring a picnic blanket or similar to make yourself comfortable. Feel free to also bring outdoor cusions, bean bags and other low backed seating. High backed lawn chairs will be allowed in the back rows, so long as they do not obstruct the view of the stage.

If a show is canceled due to rain, we have reserved Sunday the 18th, and Sunday the 25th for rain delay performances. Should this happen ticket holders will be contacted via email and we will post details on our socials.

Is the show family friendly?

We consider The Taming of the Shrew to be family friendly. Please note that while children of all ages are very welcome, parental supervision is required so that we can create an environment that is not distracting for performers or the audience.

Why are there are only 100 tickets available?

We have 100 general admission tickets available per show and an additional 24 VIP gazebo seats. We have found that this number ensures optimal seating and viewing, and helps ensure that our audience is spread out evenly across all performances.

Do you offer refunds?

Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds once a ticket has been reserved, unless the production is canceled or significantly postponed. However, if you are not able to attend, please feel free to contact us and we will try our best to assist you with re-selling the ticket.

Our ticketing system does not allow for the changing of dates so you are unable to change the date once a ticket has been purchased. However, we will create a public resource on our Facebook page to assist people who are looking to sell or trade tickets. Just contact for information.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Yes, tickets will be available at the door, however you will save $5 on your tickets when you purchase in advance. The door price will be $42 for general admission and $30 for students.

Can I bring my own food or drink into the show?

You are welcome to bring your own food for a picnic, however no outside alcohol or beverages are allowed with the exception of sealed water bottles.
